Vector Shift — City Plans and Map Styles Approval#

Briana's words#

  1. I approve the city plans, and the three map styles from earlier.

She was answering the report of 19 September, night, which listed as hers to decide: "approval of the city plans, and of the three map styles from earlier".

In the same message she asked for the harbour question to be explained, and for the open points of the city plans to be settled:

  1. Explain this: Inland ports: "Saltline, Tessmere and Stellan are harbour cities in the text but sit inland on the Atlas." What kind of PORT? Is there a RIVER to them?

  2. "Text against Atlas: each page ends with a "What the plan does not settle" list." Settle them all by fixing this

Earlier the same evening she approved one repair to the almanac: "ok then, let the repairs begin." That added six cities to Chapter III's Other great cities: Brightwick, Corran Mouth, Arvenne, Tessmere, Port Serell and Stellan. They had been named after the list was drafted.

What is now canon#

The fifteen city plans, pages 59 to 73 of the almanac, as they stand on 19 September 2026:

  • Aletheia, Saltline, Vardenhold, Ilyrion and Eldhaven;
  • Tessmere, Low Merrin and Stellan;
  • Arvenne, Cordale, Pellmoor, Sallow, Ormsby, Hastholm and Brightwick.

The approval covers each plan's streets and their names, its districts, its buildings, its tower districts and its drawn features, together with the rules the streets are named by. The plans are built from Kethra Almanac html/_build/city_specs/.

The Atlas's three map styles, Physical, Topographic and Roads, together with what they are drawn from:

  • the height model;
  • the ground cover;
  • the unnamed rivers;
  • the courses of roads and railways.

What this does not settle#

  • The points each city page lists under What the plan does not settle. Briana asked on the same day for them to be settled. Each page records how its points are settled once that is done.
  • The harbours the Atlas places inland. This is one of those points, and the largest. It is being worked out with Briana.
  • The questions still open from the almanac's approval, as that decision lists them.
